Options for Computer Room Cooling Systems

As businesses grow, their IT requirements grow with them, and soon require a separate room. Computing produces heat, and overheating from numbers of computers in a small space can soon lead to damaged equipment, data loss and company downtime. Businesses are increasingly realizing the necessity of investing in computer room cooling systems, and there are various options for doing this without breaking the bank. First of all, it is important to recognize that the cooling equipment used in these areas has to be equipment designed specifically for computers. Air conditioning systems designed for humans will be largely ineffective, as well as adding greatly to operating costs. In addition, what is particularly important is that the equipment should include precision temperature and humidity controls. If the temperature is too high, the equipment will malfunction, and its life will be shortened, while if humidity is not controlled, the equipment is likely to suffer damage due to electrostatic charge, or from condensation. Many businesses are finding that the perfect solution can be provided by computer ductless split systems, which, as they require no duct system, are simple and cost-effective to install. One big benefit of these systems is their flexibility, which means that

Top Air Quality Products Every Home Should Have

If you think you can escape polluted air indoors, think again. Depending on your habits, lifestyle and your home’s structure, the air indoors may present more problems than the air you breathe outdoors. With the addition of air quality products that can purify air by reducing and eliminating unwanted pollutants, you and your family can enjoy a healthier and fresher environment indoors. Some of the most important air quality products you should consider include: Air Purifiers An air purifier is one of the most popular air quality products installed in homes where there are household members who suffer from asthma and allergies. Air purifiers work by passing air through filters to remove particles and other pollutants. Once the air comes out of the purifier, its pollutant content is significantly reduced. Many of today’s cooling and heating systems have a built-in air purifier, although many homes still install a stand-alone unit for extra protection. Some of the most common types of air purifiers sold in the market include: HEPA filters – High Efficiency Particulate Air purifiers that can eliminate particulates as small as 0.3 micrometers Ozone Generators – capable of turning oxygen molecules into ozone that disinfects the air and removes unpleasant odor

Make Everyone Happy With Energy Saving Measures

As you begin watching the leaves turn from the green of summer time to autumn colors of red, gold and brown, it is natural to anticipate the cold of winter lurking around the corner. Most people are enamored by the bright colors of fall, but there is something sinister about them, as well. It doesn’t have to be this way, at least, not if you have done your due diligence and taken care to prepare your home. Home heating service and repair are necessary components of living a comfortable life. It calls for professional HVAC service in order to keep the cold at bay. No one wants to spend the winter months wondering whether they will be able to get through without a heating system emergency and a breakdown would be even worse. Heater maintenance before going into the winter season is a time honored responsibility of home owners everywhere. Unless you want to look forward to new heater installation sooner rather than later, it is a good idea to call the professional HVAC service contractor of your choice to take care of this responsibility for you. Otherwise, you can expect to spend a lot of time mulling over why

HVACR Industry Instructors Try to Keep Pace With Technological Advancements

Currently, the HVACR industry is undergoing many technological advancements. As a result, HVAC instructors are struggling to devise new methods to ensure that the new era of service technicians has the relevant expertise. In the past, even when new furnaces were introduced, there were only a few different kinds of control boards that were used by all manufacturers. Thus, while there was lots of different equipment to repair, it was all basically controlled in the same way. Hence, in the old days, maintenance and repairs were reasonably straightforward. Nowadays though, manufacturers have adopted the use of high end equipment. This is based around data highways, rather than thermostat wires. Such proprietary technology is much harder to service, if you are not the dealer for the equipment. With the design, controls and virtually everything related to HVAC systems becoming more complicated, many teachers are going back to basics to train the current crop of tech students. The physics of electrical theory and applied thermodynamics never changes. Warm air flows to become cold, subcooling and superheat are vital principals, and psychrometrics is essential. Students faced with the task of repairing a new, complicated system will find their ability to implement the fundamentals

Local Government Helps Advance Energy Efficiency

With considerable advances in modern technology being made daily, it comes as no surprise that many people are turning their attention towards lowering energy costs and helping do their part to help conserve resources. Local state governments, in particular, can play a crucial role in aiming to help consumers lower their energy costs by passing laws and decrees that encourage people to be more energy-minded. Often, it is individual states that play the most essential roles in helping advance energy efficiency, or so says a new paper issued by the NGA, the National Governors Association. Individual governors can help promote efforts for advanced energy efficiency by reducing local state expenditures, allocating appropriate resources into projects that feature a beneficial energy plan, strengthening pre-existing heating and energy system reliabilities, and reduce general environmental impact with small projects. All of these things can be useful in improving energy efficiency rules and standards, as the governors have the power to begin legislature on updating energy efficient ideas. In particular, An Energy Efficiency Primer for Governors may be used as a reference point to help inspire ideas that can help make efficient energy more cost-effective for the consumer. Many local governors have begun to

Study Examines Benefits of the Use of Geothermal Energy in Non-Commercial Buildings

The evolving geothermal heating and cooling technologies could be the wave of the future in cutting the cost of operating commercial and other non-residential buildings once businesses can get past the initial cost, according to a study by Frost & Sullivan, a market research and analysis firm in San Antonio, TX. The market already is expanding. It received revenue of $120.8 million in 2012, and the Geothermal Market is expected to reach $147.6 Million by 2017, thanks in part to laws in Canada and the U.S. promoting geothermal and other renewable energy sources. Laws already on the books include the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and the earlier Energy Policy Act of 2005. The study looked at the period between 2009 and 2017 and identifies geothermal heat pumps, both open and closed loop designs, as primary segments of the geothermal market on the North American continent. The Higher Energy Efficiency of Geothermal Heating and Cooling has long been apparent. The ground at about 10 feet deep is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than the air above it, with a constant temperature of between 50 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Geothermal heat pumps take advantage of

Lack of Maintenance Can Cause Furnace Problems

When the fall season approaches, most homeowners turn their attention to maintenance and repairs that may have been put off over the summer months. One of the most important tasks to complete before the cold winter months arrive is making sure the heating system, beginning with the furnace, is in excellent condition and ready to keep your family warm. Although any one of the many components to a heating system may need repairs, following are five of the most common problems that need to be addressed. 1. Lack of Maintenance If maintenance on any furnace is neglected, it may cause a breakdown just when heat is most needed. Unfortunately, this often happens during the coldest of winter nights, when the furnace has to work the hardest. Even if your furnace does not actually quit working, it may cost more in wasted fuel if it is not properly maintained. 2. Ignition Control or Pilot Light Problems If the ignition control component or the pilot light system is malfunctioning, the result may be sporadic heat or no heat at all at times. 3. Filters Clogged or Dirty If the filters are clogged, the result will be a restricted air flow, causing the

How does air conditioning work

Air conditioners work using a very simple scientific principle which is called phase conversion. According to this, when a liquid gets converted to a gas, the process absorbs heat from the air. In case of modern air conditioners, the chemical compounds used in the form of a liquid are called refrigerants. They are kept inside the evaporator coils, so that when the indoor air enters the circuit of the coil, the refrigerants are converted to a gaseous form, thereby absorbing the heat and cooling the indoor air. There is also a fan used around the coils and the fan helps to blow the air over the refrigerant coils in an even manner, so that the cooling process can occur more efficiently. This is how it happens in separate units. In central air conditioners, the principle used is the same, only there a more sophisticated and intricate system is used. Central ACs, for example, use a whole complex of ducts which funnel the indoor air to and from the refrigerant coils. How does air conditioning work: The other end of the process This is only one part of the story, though. For the conditioners to go on working, the liquid that is
